Break in the middle of a measure
Hi,
I engrave hymns, and it is pretty standard for there to be line breaks in the middle of a measure, so that the next poetic phrase starts on a new line with a pickup. MuseScore doesnt really let me do this though, and it either adds more measures, or then rearranges the measures I have already broken... it is a problem! Does anyone have any workarounds?

Click on the note where you want to break the measure and use Tools>Measure>Split measure before selected note. Add a system break to the last note of the previous (now shortened) measure.
You can select the first note after the split, then control-click a barline from the palette to accomplish this as well. Select the split barline and press return to force it down to a new system. You can make it invisible if you like as well to indicate that the bar hasn't ended yet even though there is a line break in the score.
