unusual marking on pickup measure
So, I didn't set this score up originally with a pickup measure, but at the end I just changed the duration of the first measure to 1/4 using measure properties.
So, 2 odd things. It still shows a half-beat rest in the treble clef, but not in the bass clef.
And there is an unusual little blue dot/dash above the treble and bass clef that I am betting is some indication that there is an error in that measure? Not sure. I can't select the dot and it only appears when I changed the measure properties to shorten the measure.
I have circled the little dots in the image capture below, but here is the actual score

thanks in advance.

The "dot" is a minus sign, just there on screen (not in print or in PDF) to remind you the measure has fewer beats than the time signature. There is a corresponding "+' for measures with extra beats. If for whatever reason you don't wish to see the on-screen reminder, you can turn it off via the View menu. Same for the onscreen reminders about breaks, spacers, frames, etc.
As for the rest in the treble clef, you can enter the rest you wish yourself, currently MuseScore does indeed default to showing a full measure rest in cases where you delete time from a measure. It shows the expected duration rest if you create the pickup normally, in the wizard when creating the new score.
