How to play a single note 1 octave higher
I think I saw a discussion regarding this before but I can't find it anymore. I want to play just a single note 1 octave higher. Is there a cleaner solution besides the 8va sign?

Sorry I mean leave the note where it is, but instruct the player to play it 1 octave higher.

What is "unclean" about 8va? That is the standard notation to do what you ask. Other solutions are likely to be clunky (e.g. asterisk on note, text footnote saying "play an octave higher") or misunderstood.

Thanks. I mean I thought there was another convention for single-note case. But I guess there isn't.
Regardless of why you want to do this, it is possible. Place the note at the pitch you want then change the "Fix to line" property in Inspector. Then indicate by whatever means you feel best that the performer is to play it up an octave. 8, 8va and clef changes are the commonest ways of doing this.
