Date format from tokens in header/footer

• Jan 6, 2022 - 01:03

I recommend that there be an option so that the dates indicated symbolically in header or footer text by such tokens as $d and $D would be rendered with the "short date" format established in the host computer system.

I recommend that the date prepopulated in the creationDate field of the Preferences continue to be done with the ISO format, as at present. This recommendation is based on the possible use of this metadata item in cataloging scores in a wide context, and of course that format is "correct in any situation".

A further desirable feature would be for a "button" that would cause a selected date, represented by a token, to be replaced by its current value as a literal (that is, to be "frozen" at the present date). This is very valuable in managing "version control" of evolving scores.

The date format in the creationDate field is very unlikely to change. So use $creationDate: instead of $D if you want an ISO date.
But I too would like $D, $d, $M and $m to be configurable. I do use $M on all of my scores, to keep track of versions.
I find it quite annoying that it looks one way on my PC (dd.mm.yy) and another way on musescore.com (dd mmm yyyy) or on other PCs
