Making tuplet numbers visible for the whole score

• Jan 6, 2022 - 19:21

Hi,
I've got a score with a lot of tuplets. Unfortunately most of the numbers, the "3"s, are not visible. I know how to open the inspector for each individual tuplet and change its characteristics to make the number visible, but I'm wondering (and hoping) that there's a way to make them visible for the whole score without having to select them all individually! Does anybody know a way to do this?

Thanks in anticipation!!
Rowan.

They should be visible by default though.

Right-click one (or Ctrl+click on Mac) and choose Select → All Similar Elements to have all of them selected in one action; then use the inspector.

Without seeing your score, it's hard to guess what might have gone wrong, but to be clear: triplets numbers are normally visible by default. They would only be hidden if you (or someone else who previously edited the score) explicitly set them invisible.

In any case, assuming they really are there but for whatever reason were set invisible, it's easy enough to select all tuplets (or any other type of element) at once. Right-click one, Select / All Similar Elements. Then you can press "V" to toggle visibility, or - probably better in this case - use the Inspector to explicit set visible. Or if there were disabled using the number type field in the Inspector, re-enable them there.
