Cannot screen record with MuseScore

Cannot use with Screencastify (SC) or ZOOM.

In ScreenCastify

  1. Attempt 1
    a) Open Screencastify and set it to record desktop.
    b) open Musescore.
    RESULT: SC crashes completely

  2. Attempt 2
    a) Open Musescore
    b) Set SC to record desktop.
    RESULT: SC crashes.

I also attempted both of the above after a browser restart AND after a computer restart with same results. It should be noted that Screen Castify worked before opening MS and after closing it.

In ZOOM

  1. Attempt 1
    a) Opened Musescore (MS)
    b) Opened ZOOM and started meeting.
    RESULT: Microphone was not detected in Zoom

  2. Attempt 2
    a) Opened ZOOM meeting. Microphone worked.
    b) Opened MuseScore
    RESULT: Microphone in ZOOM stopped working immediately upon MS splash screen
    c) Ended Musescore session
    RESULT: Microphone started working again in ZOOM, 5-10 seconds after closing MS.

Hmm, I use both of these tools all the time, on Windows and on Linux, and have never had a problem. What version of MuseScore, and what OS?

Could be something about your specific display or audio hardware too and your settings in Edit / Preferences / I/O within MuseScore, I guess, so info on that would be useful as well. But if Screencastify crashes, that's a Screencastify bug, not a MuseScore bug, and would need to be reported to them.

Regarding the mic issue with Zoom, here again, knowing what OS you are on would help, but note that some OS's have settings to control exclusive use of audio and that setting might need to be changed. Also on some systems, Zoom creates its own audio device that you would need to explicitly select in MuseScore in order for the sound to be routed there.
