Palettes
I was using the palettes - just fine -
NOw - when I check palettes a tiny box comes up with Search... and NO PALETTES
I can usually still access what I need by pulling up MASTER PALETTE
BUt why did it change - Where did it go? What happened?

Sounds like you must have clicked the search box then started typing something into it, and whatever you typed didn't match any names of palette items, so nothing else is showing. To close the search box and return to the normal palette view, just press there "X" icon.
