No sound when I click on the note with MIDI keyboard

• Feb 20, 2022 - 03:28

I am using MuseScore 3.6.2.548021803 Revision 224f4 on a Windows 11/64 computer.
MS used to play the note sound whenever I clicked on the note in the score. A few days ago, I connected a USB-MIDI adapter and use the Casio ToneBank Keyboard MT-260 to enter notes. Everything is OK except when I click on the note there is no sound. I have to actually play the score with the play button to hear. I then disconnected the MIDI keyboard from the computer and things are back to normal, whenever I click on the note, the computer plays the sound.
Here are my settings:
In preference > I/O I selected the only MIDI device available on the MIDI input and MIDI output which is my MIDI adapter that was connected to my keyboard. The MIDI output latency was set to 100 ms.
In preference > Note Input > I put a check on everything. I especially put a checkmark on Play Notes when Editing. I do not use MIDI Remote Control and was left unchecked. The Note default duration was set to 100 ms. The Delay between notes in automatic real-time mode is set to 300 ms.

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

Should work normally, but it could be something about the score itself (eg, inappropriate settings for single note dynamics), or your soundfont if you are expecting to hear the sound played on your computer. If you attach your score, someone may be able to advise better.

If you are saying the the computer itself stops playing sound when the MIDI keyboard is plugged in, then it sounds like maybe the keyboard is claiming to be an audio device in addition to being a MIDI device (this is not uncommon I guess) and it may be that MuseScore is simply trying to send its audio there instead of to your computer speakers. Be sureyour regular speakers are selected in Edit / Preferences / I/O. Your keyboard should be listed only as the MIDI device, not as the audio device.
