Piano Sustain Occasionally Doesn't Work

• Feb 23, 2022 - 11:00

Hi Experts,

I'm encountering an issue (looks like a bug, using Musescore 3) that's when I'm adding a simple piano notes (score is SATB+P), in some bars the piano sustain works fine, but on some, it does not. An example is a whole piano note that just echoes (or reverb) for a few milliseconds and cuts, similar to the length of 16th/8th note, while there's a quarter note that still extends till the note drops, which should be the case. When I am soloing just the piano, it sustains perfectly, but together with my SATB, it doesn't work that way. I also added a sustain pedal on the whole note but it doesn't work. I'm using a headset for clarity so I'm hearing it and is quite annoying.

I uploaded a sheet, and on my end, only measures 5, 6 and 7 only sustains. Most noticeable is measure 8 (whole note).

Is someone experiencing the same thing as well and is there a fix to it?

Thanks so much for the help!

In your attachment, I see only one piano whole note, which is the final note in the piano bass clef (measure 8). It sounds for the full duration whether or not the piano is soloed in the mixer.
Where (what measure) is that whole piano note that cuts while there's a quarter note?

Well yes, the measure 8 only has whole note, but the piano decay cuts are there in 1-4 as well which are the dotted quarters. The dotted quarters sound ok in 5-7. I was taking that whole note in measure 8 as an example, since that is the most obvious one to hear in my software (which can be heard in the recording. This is even audible on a loudspeaker). I dont think its an issue with my PC since this is kinda brand new, while the Musescore 3 is a fresh download few days back, and haven't configured any settings in here.
