Repeat flags

OK I looked in the handbook with no success and I looked at my various palettes with no success These blue so called repeat flags I call them popped up purely by accident, how do I get rid of them completely? Have no clue where or how they come to be. help me not to have them pop up again unless I really need them.

I thought I would avoid them for now, and just start my cursor on the 2nd stave down but when I did that those blue repeat flags jumped from the 1st stave, 1st measure to the 2nd stave 1st measure. Bugging me to death?
