Dynamics not working

• Apr 8, 2022 - 10:10

Hi, so when I add multiple dynamics, like a add a crescendo, then a few bars later a diminuendo, the diminuendo just doesn't work, or that I add a dynamic letter then the crescendo just doesn't work.
Please Help!

Hi
I have found that the hairpin needs a dynamic mark (eg. mp, ff) placed at the end so that it "locks" onto the hairpin. If you move the dynamic mark the hairpin should then move with it. If you don't want to see the dynamic mark on the score make it invisible. I hope this helps

If the markings are entered in a way that would be clear to a human reader - a dynamic at the end of each hairpin to tell them what the ending dynamic should be - then MuseScore should understand also. Or, if you have a special reason to not include an ending dynamic, you can either make it invisible, or use the Inspector to set the velocity change for the hairpin manually (human players of course will have to guess).

If you have a case where it seems things still aren't working as expected, please attach it so we can understand and assist better.

That's because you have a dynamic marking on that chord with a velocity value of only 49. Looks like you deleted the letter from the dynamic but left the dynamic itself in place. That's supposed to be impossible, and often we go a year without hearing any reports of someone making it happen, but oddly enough, it's happened 3 or 4 times in the last couple of weeks. Anyhow, tTo find and delete it. click the low A, then press Alt+Right a few times while watching the status bar. When you see it say "Dynamic", you'll know it's selected. Then press Delete.

BTW, I see you are using "lyrics" instead of the built in chord symbol or RNA feature. Definitely the formatting would be much nicer if you used the built-in feature (Ctrl+K for chord symbol, Add / Text / Roman numeral analysis for RNA).
