repeats and jumps menu
The "Repeats and Jumps" menu just doesn't work. I click on the sign and try to enter it in the score and nothing happens.

Select a measure first by clicking in an empty space within it. By empty I mean somewhere other than a note or rest etc.
The way all palettes work is, first select the thing in the score you want to apply it to, then click the palette item. For the repeats palette specifically, that usually means selecting a measure first. Other palette items like articulations or dynamics work by first selecting a note.
You can also use drag & drop if you have extra time to kill, but the same concept applies - you have to drag to the specific score element you want to attach to. In the case of the repeats palette, that generally means dragging to a specific measure, not releasing until that measure highlights.
