I can uncheck the visibility property of a selected SVG object in MuseScore's Inspector. This affects certain "spacing" details—suggesting that invisibility was achieved. But when Show Invisible is checked the SVG object stays undimmed on screen— suggesting that the object is not invisible.

With Show Invisible checked dimming is the only onscreen verification of invisibility but opacity/dimming is not functioning with SVGs. Jojo pointed out that the hand book states: "MuseScore currently does not support SVG shading ..."

It appears that onscreen dimming is the only issue. With visibility unchecked SVG objects are indeed fully invisible:

• in PDF
• in hardcopy
• when copied or saved with Image Capture
• onscreen when Show Invisible is unchecked
