MuseScore 4 Freezes when Midi-Input is changed (on Windows 10)

I run into this problem

which apparently isn't listed as an issue, yet.

Steps to reproduce:
a) fresh install of museScore 4
b) go to settings -> input/output -> use dropdown menu for "midi input"
--> application freezes (settings dialog is not responding and cannot be close without killing the app), no matter what input is selected, even whe selecting "no input"
