Setting number of measures per staff

• Jun 16, 2022 - 00:41

Hi, how do I set the number of measures I would like per staff? If I let it load automatically, the program will put like 12 measures on one staff and 7 on the next, and I would like to edit it manually. Trying to add lines/measures, cut/paste just makes the sheet revert to its original un-balanced state.

MuseScore fits lots of measures by default because they are empty and thus 8can* fit. As soon as you add notes, things expand normally. You shouldn't normally be messing with this - it's like word wrap in a text editor, just type and let things flow naturally. Then when you're done, you can take a step back to see if you want to adjust where the line breaks fall for better readability. Hitting Enter adds a break, just like it does in a text editor. If you're creating a special type of music that requires a fixed number of measure for system - like lead sheets, or music for children - you can also use Format / Add/Remove System Breaks.
