On my computer, the Bass Drums play fine, although rather quietly. If you go to the F10 Mixer, you can click the S (solo) button on the Bass Drums and hear them play on their own.
On the attached score I added Timpani and used the Mixer's M (mute) button to silence the Bass Drums. Is that more the sound you wanted to hear?
