Change colour of text in a plugin

Hi,

I have been adapting the note names and colornotes plugins for a couple of different uses, and I am getting the hang of this quite well. I have managed to colour the notes and have the letter name above.

I would like to change the colour of each letter to be the same as the note colour, but can't find how to do this (or how to change the text colour from a plugin at all actually).

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
