Odd use of "R"

• Sep 15, 2014 - 15:00

Hi
I was going to experiment with trying to get MS2 beta1 to play 2 sound fonts at once so just added a few notes to a score. Decided (after the first note) to use the R shortcut to repeat the previous note.
What it actually did was give the same sound but wrote a note a flattened 7th higher. Upon repeating R it then placed a note a whole tone lower but still with the original sound...etc etc
A similar thing happens in Tpt 2 but it didn't jump the flattened 7th for several notes

see attached "score"

Windows 8.1

Upon playback, the same note is played despite several different pitches being displayed.
You'll also note that it has made a sequence of the first 6 notes!

In Preferences "R" is the default 'repeat selection' btw

Hopefully this is the correct part of the forum to mention this

Yikes! Seems to be a bug in "R" affecting transposing instruments only. Seems a number of there were found a fixed months ago, but I guess this got left off.

This is definitely a good place to report things you find when you aren't sure if they are bugs or not. But once you are sure - and this is definitely a sure thing - you can file an issue to the Issue Tracker. You can even do that directly from the Help menu within MuseScore, and it will fill in the details of the build you are using.

It is best to list specific steps to reproduce. I'd say something like this:

1) new score for Bb trumpet, key of C
2) first measure, note entry
3) press "D" to enter a D
4) press "R" to repeat it

Result: note displays as C natural even though it sounds as D.
