Hairpin placement

In the attached example I am having trouble dragging the right hand end of the crescendo hairpin slightly before the bar line, instead of running up to the ff sign.
I can move it, but the pink attachment line jumps and attaches itself to notes after the ff sign! I want to crescendo up to the end of the bar, no further.
I don't want to move the ff sign - this should be positioned directly above the first note of the bar.
