Playback plays via speakers despite PC headphones plugged in

My computer recognizes that my headset is plugged in. All audials whether online or computer files play via headset------ except for my musescore playback which is playing via the computer speakers. Is there something I need to adjust in the setting? I have tried taking out and reinserting the USB but that has not helped. I don't want to exit and go back in because I am in the middle of editing a score and want to be able to go back and 'redo'.
