Incorrect Midi Input

• Aug 24, 2022 - 18:51

I have been using an M-Audio Midi input for composing on MuseScore. However, I somehow screwed something up either on the Midi or the MuseScore software because now every time I play on the keyboard to make notation, all the notes appear a half step up. For example, I'll play C4, but on the sheet music, it will write C#4. Any ideas on what I did and how I can undo it?

Probably you hit a transpose button on your keyboard. Either that, or maybe the instrument you are writing for in a transposing on like Db piccolo, and you're got thing set up to be entering notes at concert pitch but having them display transposed.

If you specified piano when you created you score, it's probably not the instrument transposition, although feel free to check by right-clicking the staff, Staff/Part Properties, and making sure no transposition is specified there.

More likely it;s the keyboard itself that you accidentally transposed, though. You'd have to consult the manual for that to learn how to change transposition, but probably, there is a button somewhere.
