Have added abc_import-jt.qml into musescore plug in file in the MuseScore programme files.
Copied file into documents and then copy pasted from there to musescore plugin file.
Closed down MusceSore and reopened it but still no success.
Also in the plug in file abc_import_2.0.1

Not done the downloading into a musescore file before, so am I making a fundamental error in the procedure !
When I placed the abc_import_2.0.1 I rebooted the computer but still had the problem.

Still getting the message not an XML music file.
message reads : fatal error line 5 column 7 opening and ending tag mismatch.

Comments

The error is not the ABC contents itself, I can convert it just fine.

Now to clarify some things:
(1) You do not need abc_import_2.0.1 unless you're using a version of MuseScore 2. It is not intended to work correctly with MS3.

(2) If you look in the plugin menu, verify that the name listed there is "ABC Import (jt)" (emphasis added). If the menu entry does not include the (jt) text, then you're not running my version of the plugin; but the broken built-in one instead.

(3) If you need, have a look at how to install plugins. You should not be placing the plugin inside the program installation folder; while this might seem to work, it'll lead to possible permission issue when the plugin tries to store the conversion result as well as pretty much guarantees you'll lose the plugin on a new MuseScore update. Always prefer to save plugins within your user folders, as indicated via the Preferences.

Many thanks for your information and quick response, loaded up the file and updated plugins, now your
' jt ' version is available as a menu choice, and I have successfully up loaded and played the abc file.
That's brilliant.
Again thanks for your help,
Keep well,
Best Regards,
Ray.
