Midi Remote Control greyed out

Hello,

What a great piece of software is Musescore. However do I have to seem have an issue with Midi Remote Control. The option MIDI Remote Control in Edit->Preferences=>Note Input is greyed out. I have connected my Yamaha keyboard through an IRig Midi 2 adapter and it plays sounds on Musescore, the I/O seems yo be ok.

However I like to keep my hands on the Yamaha when I play and enter notes in Real time, but without the remote control I have to use the Enter key on my pc to extend the notes.

My OS is ubuntu, how would I be able to use the MIDI Remote Control?
