Does MU4 not support VST2 instruments?
I have several VST Instruments on my computer, but MU4 finds only 2
and I cannot specify a folder for VST2 plugins.
Does this mean there is not VST2 support?

There is indeed no VST2 support as implementing that is no longer allowed by the SDK from Steinberg.
They have been phasing out VST2 for a while now and new software updates can only support VST3, including MuseScore.
