how to enter a second figured bass on a long note

• Oct 26, 2022 - 17:34

Within a measure, the bass line I am working with has half-notes that have a first figure on the main beat and then an additional figure on the second beat of the half-note. I cannot find an equivalent of the use of ";" available in chord text entry to begin a figure at the next beat. How do I enter this type of figure?

I think you need Ctrl+Space, but I’m away from my PC just now. Check the Handbook - Figured Bass is in the Advanced Topics section.

Thanks Brer for the prod to read the FB section again. So, "Space" goes to the next note and "Ctrl+Space" adds a real space to the current figure ... However, there is a series of "Ctrl+N" commands that I missed that move forward by a given note duration to add a new figure. I needed "Ctrl+5". Sweet! That is even more flexible than I had hoped for.
