SATB close score
Hi,
is it possible (as a user) to create a new tempate of a close score?
i mean the same as in (for example)
(1)SATB close score
or
(2)Barbershop quartet
I would like to add 3 or 4 voices in one Staff instead of the provided two voices in above (1+2) mentioned.
We sometimes use three or four voices (Upper lower soprano and/or upper/lower Alto) in our choir in one Staff. With the provided close score, only the volume of two voices can be altered .
{in SATB open score these are Soprano and Alto, but i like to have Soprano1, soprano2, Alt1, Alto2, Tenor1, Tenor2, Baritone and Bass}.
(I know how to inplode, but that is not the solution i seek, i want to alter the volumes in an easy way with F10)
I Hope you can help!
Harrie.

Create a score as you like to have it and save it in the user templates folder.
When creating a new score, choose this template under 'Custom Templates'.

Sorry, but that is a limitation of using Closed Score. The only way to achieve the control you want is use Open Score with four separate staves (SS AA TT BB).

Dear Daniel,
Thank you for your quick answer!
However, the file you attached helped me, beacuse there are 4 stafs in it with two volume-controlled voices each, and it hinted me to make use of the "Women" and "men"- Staff in order to create the 8 voices. I did not know that.
thank you again!
Harrie.

Harrie, you are welcome!
You could create a custom instruments.xml file in which you create new variants of the Men/Women instruments with additional channels. Then create a new set of staff texts as well to match those additional channels.

at first glance i think this is just what i want,
After a little bit of searching, i think it can be done as follows:
I found the original musescore.xml at github and then
i should make a new one (with the new men/women) and store it on mij laptop in a file at the location specified in
edit-Preferences-score-instruments list 2.
thank you for you answer!
added:
I copied the instruments.xml (copy-paste from github) to a textfile in a self-chose PC-directory, then textualy altered the name of women into wmn4, and added soprano2 and alto2 into wmn4(copy paste). Now i have 2 soprano voices and 2 alto-voice in one Staff, and the volume of each voice can be independantly altered with the mixer.
Thank you all for your help! Helps a lot!
Harrie

Would you consider uploading your altered 'instruments.xml' to this thread, so others can see / compare, what you've done? Thx.

yes of course i will do that,
EDITED:
I removed all the definitions as defined in the original instruments.xml, and added a few instruments
and changed the clefs, range of pitches etc. etc. accordingly.
it works fine, i have not found any error on this.
I used a freeware program called Notepad++ to edit the xml-file.
