Guitar "Chord symbols" to Stave distance setting

• Jul 13, 2025 - 03:53

I cannot find in "Style settings" (if it's there) where to set a default distance from top of stave to the bottom of the "Chord symbols."

There are several fields to do this in Format / Style / Chord Symbols / Positioning. I've never used them so don't know what each does. Experiment.

Or, read the Handbook. The section on Chord Symbols would likely be useful. Particularly the section headed Positioning which shows the exact part of the Format dialog I directed you to and describes what each one does.

I recommend that every new (or "new-ish" :-) user take an hour or two and simply read the entire Handbook. Don't try to memorize it! Just skim through it and familiarize yourself with the contents! But read it all!!! Then you'll have an idea where to find things when issues come up in the future. "Didn't I see something about that in the Handbook?"

Welcome aboard and best of luck!!!

Nothing in the chord symbol section deals with position above the staff.
But you can try this if you want to move them closer to the staff. Select a range of chords and go to Properties.
Find the Alignment section. You will see an A over a dotted line in a blue box. Select the A under the dotted line,
