Scrolling the palettes is buggy with external mouse

On MacOS Monterrey 12.6 on a macbook pro 2021

I have a bluetooth mouse that I use instead of the built-in trackpad. Everything works fine with it on every other app but the palettes sidebar in musescore has some sort of fixed tracking of the trackpad's scrolling position, so whenever I scroll with my mouse, it jumps back to the start or to wherever I scrolled last with the trackpad. It also sometimes just stops scrolling and gets stuck. If I scroll with the trackpad, it works well. This is making my workflow almost unusable.

Scrolling in the score, whether vertically or horizontally, works just fine with both mouse and trackpad.
