40-piece symphonic choir

• Nov 21, 2022 - 14:26

Curious, I found enough free storage space on my diminutive computer system, and
chose 'Choir' and 'Woodwinds' to download from MuseHub.

As I watched the download in progress, I mused (pun intended) on the verbiage found in the app.

Comment: never have I thought of myself a 'piece' in a Choir... I've sang in varying-size choral groups, as a 'member' or 'person'. I've even directed a 310-singer festival choir.

Question: Is the quality of the Choir recording improved by how beautiful the room is? What if the room was dingy and worn, but had exceptional acoustics?

I get it. I've performed in all manor of bands, orchestras and choirs for almost 60 years. I suppose I could do a lot worse than being called a "piece".
Would you rather sing in a broken down warehouse, or a cathedral? One may or may not result in a better performance than the other. But one would surely produce a more inspired performance than the other.
