Deleting extraneous line of voice 1 rests from 4 part music
I created a four part piece of music, meaning to use the four voice feature. I realized after I finished that I had not assigned the tenor voice to voice 3; I had assigned it to voice 1. So the soprano voice was assigned to voice 1 and so was the tenor voice. When I selected a tenor note and assigned it to voice 3, it put a rest in voice 1 on top of the note that is in voice 3. I tried deleting the rest, but it would not go away. I put all of the tenor notes into voice 3 and tried to delete all of the extraneous voice 1 rests, but they would not go away. What can I do to delete these rests. I have uploaded a file with a single measure that shows the problem.

Just use voice 1 for tenor

Each separate staff has 4 voices and you should always start with voice 1 in every staff. Which is why you can't delete voice 1 rests, voice 1 needs to be always present and complete.
So you actually did it right the first time around ;-)
