MuseScore 4 with Muse Sounds causes playback and application to lag
Not just the playback, but the entire application, too, begin to lag when playing a score in MuseScore 4 with Muse Sounds.
As my computer is quite old, could this be a hardware problem? Would upgrading the CPU or soundcard help?
Also, my MuseSounds downloads are located on an external HDD (using a symlink) - is it possible to allocate more RAM to prevent any issues regarding loading the sounds?
The score itself should not be too big (8 minutes with approximately 30 parts). It runs well in MuseScore 2 or MuseScore 4 with the MS Basic soundfont.

In addition to the adjustments here: https://musescore.org/en/node/339915 a usb audio interface helps also. You can buy one starting at $10 and up (way up). And check out the minimum specs at the bottom of the download page.
