Upper register sounds rushing in musescore 4

• Dec 28, 2022 - 15:43

Hi there,

I'm wrting a piece for bassoon and piano and when writing a passage in the very uper regions of the instrument, i came across something very perculiar in the playback.

The first passage (both in tenor clef) pictured below plays fine. however, the second passage pictured which is a sequence of the first, the bassoon starts to rush significantly. By the time the passage reaches the final E, the bassoon part is almost a quaver ahead. When playing the final E, the part will also drop ou after about a beat and a half then reenter in teh tied second bar.

I'm not entierly sure what is going on. To my understanding if it was a CPU overload issue, i would hear more of a crackling sound similar to what i've experienced in DAWs.

Ive tried putting the phrase and octave lower and there the playback is fine. I have also tried changing the audio buffer size and there has been no affect. Im using a 2021 16 inch macbook pro (M1 pro) so i dont think my hardware is limiting the playback.

Any help would be appreciated, although im assuming it may jsut be an issue that is adressed in a future update.

Thanks,

Finn
