Corrupted File Musescore 4

About a week ago, I downloaded Musescore 4 and started working on a new project. I worked on it throughout the week but today when I tried to open it, the file was corrupted. Whenever I try to open the file it says "unknown filetype". I saved frequently, and closed/reopened the file multiple times without problem. Does anyone know if it's possible to access any of those previous versions of the file? I use Windows 11, and tried to follow instructions from the post https://musescore.org/en/node/52116, but did not have any luck with the last saved version- I found the file, but it did not have a comma at the end of it. When I looked at the file extension, it instead had a '~' at the end- under "type", it says its a "MSCZ~ File". Removed the period from the file name, still wouldn't open. Would I be right to assume that the file backup is also corrupted? Is there any hope?
