free rhythm / vocal recording

i want to write notation but be able to import an audio file instead of a vst, the audio file will play alongside the tablature rather than a vst instrument regardless of what is on the tablature. this is because vocals are hard to replicate as a vst so i could load a .mp3 into my vocal track instead and that would play with the song instead. even better, i could sing into my mic as my notation goes by and then that would be saved for the vocal track so i can replay it and hear myself back. hope that makes sense

Okay, so export your notation as audio (i.e, a .wav file), then use an audio program like the (free) Audacity to record your singing onto a vocal track while it plays your notation .wav file. Then you can replay it all "and hear yourself back".
