Replacing key signature

• Feb 17, 2023 - 18:35

By the time I got to the bottom of my song, I noticed the key signature is wrong. I have tried highlighting the old one then double clicking on the new one, and dropping and dragging onto the old one, but nothing changes. I am on a Mac with Musescore 4. This is the 2n song it happened to me on. Thanks.

Post your score and advise what (& where) you want the Time Signature(s) to be. Sometimes it's easy (such as when going from 2/4 to 4/4), other times it may be better to create a new section at the end of the piece and copy/paste the notes there. And if you're going from 6/8 to 2/4 things can start to get complicated.

The first three words of the above paragraph are the most important and apply when asking about many score-related issues.

What you say you are doing should work. Please attach the score you are having problems with and say exactly which key signature you are trying to replace and what you are trying to replace it with. If possible, create a screen capture video of what you are doing and upload to YouTube and post a link here so that someone can see what is happening.

It all works fine for me, but I am working in Windows. MACs are a mystery to me.

I note that you say "nothing changes". Note that changing the key signature does only that. The pitches of the notes will not change. However, you would see accidentals removed or added depending on whether they are already present in the new key signature. Perhaps there are no notes that would cause accidentals to change (seems unlikely but possible).
