Multimeasure Rests
I don't want the five empty measures before an instrument enters to be a multimeasure rest, because I want a cue from another instrument to appear in those measures. However the instructions in the Handbook for making this happen do not work in MuseScore 4:
"1. Disable multimeasure rests" [press the letter M]
"2. Right-click on the measure at which you want the multimeasure rest to break" [I assume this means "Don't make this and the next four measures into a multimeasure] "and select Measure Properties."
"3. In the dialog, check "Break multimeasure rest"
"4. Click OK."
5. Re-enable multimeasure rests." [press the letter M again]
All empty measures [more than whatever the default is] again become multimeasure rests. In other words, nothing has changed. Am I misunderstand the wording or something?

That is a wrong assumption, you'd need to do this for all 5 measures, or at least 4 of them

If those measures contain cue notes then they will automatically not be included in a multimeasure rest as they are not empty. Or am I misunderstanding the problem?

That's the answer. I just replace the multimeasure rest with the corresponding number of measures of the cue instrument. If the first several measures of the cue are empty they are converted to a multimeasure rest.
