How do I change the notes of a stringed instrument?

The standard tuning of a ukulele is G4, C4, E4, A4 (I think I have that right), but it is not uncommon to make the G string an octave lower, G3. How do I change the notes associated with the strings so the tablature doesn't show red notes for the G string?
