German translation of the Instruments dialog

• Mar 23, 2023 - 23:00

I would like to suggest to change the German translation of the Instruments dialog.

I would like to suggest to translate the genre name "Choral" as "Chor", the genre name "Orchestra" as "Orchester", the genre name "Concert Band" as "Blasorchester" and the genre name "World Music" as "Weltmusik".

I would like to suggest to translate the instrument group name "Free Reed" as "Durchschlagzungeninstrumente", the instrument group name "Percussion - Pitched" as "Schlaginstrumente - gestimmt", the instrument group name "Percussion - Unpitched" as "Schlaginstrumente - ungestimmt", the instrument group name "Percussion - Marching" as "Schlaginstrumente - Marschmusik" and the instrument group name "Percussion - Body" as "Schlaginstrumente - Körper".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Basset Clarinet" as "Bassettklarinette" and the long name "Basset Clarinet" as "Bassettklarinette".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Basset Horn" as "Bassetthorn" and the long name "Basset Horn" as "Bassetthorn".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Concert Bass Drum" as "Große Trommel", the long name "Bass Drum" as "Große Trommel", the short name "BD" as "Gr. Tr." and the description "Bass drum." as "Große Trommel.".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Concert Snare Drum" as "Kleine Trommel", the long name "Snare Drum" as "Kleine Trommel", the short name "SD" as "Kl. Tr." and the description "Snare drum, also known as side drum." as "Kleine Trommel.".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Piano" as "Klavier", the long name "Piano" as "Klavier", the short name "Pno." as "Klav." and the description "Piano." as "Klavier.".

I would like to suggest to translate the order name "Orchestral" as "Orchester", the order name "Big Band" as "Bigband", the order name "Jazz Combo" as "Jazzcombo", the order name "Rock Band" as "Rockband" and the order name "Concert Band" as "Blasorchester".

Comments

  1. I agree to "Chor" and "Orchester", but not "Blasorchester", that is "Brassband", nor "Weltmusik", as "World music" to me is an uncalled for "euphemism/woke" expression for "Ethnic instruments". There was quite a discussion about that change.
  2. I agree to the "Schlaginstrumente - ..." changes, but "Durchschlagzungeninstrumente" is quite a monster word. How about "Freirohrblattinstrumente", used in a few other strings? A little less monsterous, but still room for improvment.
  3. "Bassettklarinette" is the translation in use already.
  4. "Bassetthorn" is the translation in use already.
  5. I agree to "Große Trommel", "Große Trommel." and "gr. Tr." for Concert Bass Drum", not sure about "Bass Drum" though, as in Rock/Pop those are usually used untranslated.
  6. I agree to "Kleine Trommel", "Kleine Trommel." and "kl. Tr." for Concert Snaree Drum", not sure about "Snare Drum" though, see above.
  7. "Klavier", "Klavier." and Klav." is usually/only used for Upright Piano" (and "Honky Tonk Piano" and "Toy piano" too), that's what the translations do.
  8. I agree to Orchester, Bigband, Jazzcombo and Rockband, but not Blassorchester, see above.

Those I agreed to have been changed just now. Update your translations on a hour or so to see them

Thank you.

I would like to suggest to translate the genre name "World Music" as "Folkloristische Musik", since other categories are "Elektronische Musik" and "Alte Musik".

I would like to suggest to translate the instrument group name "Free Reed" as "Harmonikainstrumente" and the instrument group name "Percussion - Body" as "Schlaginstrumente - Körper".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Basset Clarinet" as "Bassettklarinette" and the long name "Basset Clarinet" as "Bassettklarinette", since the instrument name "Bassettklarinette" is written with "tt".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Basset Horn" as "Bassetthorn" and the long name "Basset Horn" as "Bassetthorn", since the instrument name "Bassetthorn" is written with "tt".

I would like to suggest to translate the short name "BD" as "Gr. Tr.", since the instrument name "Große Trommel" is written with "Gr".

I would like to suggest to translate the short name "SD" as "Kl. Tr.", since the instrument name "Kleine Trommel" is written with "Kl".

I would like to suggest to translate the track name "Piano" as "Klavier", the long name "Piano" as "Klavier", the short name "Pno." as "Klav." and the description "Piano." as "Klavier.", since the use of the instrument name "Klavier" is common in orchestral scores. The use of the instrument name "Klavier" is common in orchestral scores not only for an upright piano but also for a grand piano.
