Problem Changing Properties of existing (selected) Staff Text Object

• Apr 5, 2023 - 17:21

I'm trying to change the font size of a specific piece of selected Staff Text to make it smaller without affecting other Staff Text objects. I selected the text by highlighting and right-clicking (Windows10). I believe this should bring up a Properties Manager window for "Staff Text." The window that pops up is indeed labelled "Staff Text." However, instead of displaying staff text properties, the pop-up window contains tabs for Swing Settings and Capo Settings. (See attached file.) Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

I'm using MuseScore 4 (current version as of April, 2023). While trying to learn how to make the above change, I searched the online help for about a half hour and found a wealth of information on the "Inspector" for MuseScore 3. I finally learned that the "Inspector" has been replaced by the "Properties Manager" in MuseScore 4.

I believe that MuseScore 4.0 is has great potential. However, wading through online legacy help for version 2 and 3 (that is not applicable to version 4) is very time consuming and frustrating. Maybe priority should be given to separating the online documentation for the three different versions of MuseScore that seem to be in active use.

Comments

My problem with changing selected staff text size is solved! The "Properties" panel label that is normally in the upper left corner had somehow disappeared (covered by pallet options.) I have now fixed this and the properties panel works as expected.

However, the possible bug described above is still present. Selecting a staff text object and right-clicking still brings up an unrelated window. (Refer to attached image. If a fix is warranted, it would probably have a very low priority).
