Deleting metronome marks, and ties

I accidentally entered a metronome marking on the fourth measure. How can I delete it, and put a metronome mark at the beginning of the song?

I'm trying to tie an eighth note at the end of a measure with a dotted half note at the beginning of the next measure. When I try to add a tie, the dotted half note changes to quarter notes and eighth notes all tied together. Why is this happening? How can I tie the two notes?

Select and delete the one you don't want. Re-enter where you do want.
Sounds like you might still be in note input mode when you enter the tie. Exit note input mode first,then enter the tie.
