chord symbol size updating only after editing

• Apr 23, 2023 - 13:51

Strange and annoying bug.

  1. Open attached MuseScore document
    test ori.mscz
  2. Find the D7 chord and note that its font is smaller than nearby chords
    D7 is smaller.png
  3. Now edit the D7 chord to something else, like D6 and hit enter
  4. Notice that it now fixes its font size to match the value specified in settings

I have tried changing the value in settings and also selecting all chord symbols and changing the value in the properties. But somehow, each one seems to be living in its own world.

Any feedback is welcome! Thanks!

Thanks! That got me out of this bind.

I also had to:

Select Alternate Chord Symbols > Properties > More > Text Style > Chord Symbol (Alternate)

to get them to stop reverting to regular chord symbols. I think I'm back on track now.

But why does it change size just from changing the chord? Wouldn't that be a bug?

So, can you help me understand how this works?

The Format > Style are the defaults that apply to new entries, but the values under Properties are OVERRIDES on a per-object basis? And so then if you Properties > Reset, that reverts the object back to the file defaults, and tracks those defaults as they change until/unless another object-specific override is set?
