Vocal instruments hold the note when given a rise or fall

• Apr 27, 2023 - 23:27

After adding a fall, doit, plop, scoop, slide out down, slide out up, slide in above, or slide in below to a vocal instrument, the note holds on playback until the next occurrence of the note.
I did not try every combination, but enough to know it wasn't just the voice instrument I was working with. The kazoo works but other vocal instruments do not play back as expected. Other instruments that one would expect to work with a rise or fall work, like oboe or cello. The piano also holds the note like the vocal instruments, but I wouldn't expect to play a rising or falling note on a piano.
Full system restart did not help.

Me too. Some other instruments do not play them at all, like flute or saxophone, which really sucks as it is such a common technique. What works seems to be brass, strings and guitars (of course, I tried not all of them in any combination).

Btw, slide in or out are often played on a piano or organ, think of Jerry Lee Lewis or Jon Lord.
