Can't Install MuseScore

• Oct 20, 2008 - 19:52

I have just found your site when looking for a score program.

I clicked on "Download Free - Now" and got a file called "Download.PHP". I don't know what a "PHP" file is but clicked on it anyway and was prompted to insert the "Picture IT! Photo 2002 disc". Why? I didn't insert the disc as I don't have it.

I tried to download again and this time got "mscore-0.9.3.exe". I clicked on it but only got a glimpse of a DOS window which immediately disappeared.

Having looked around your site it seems that perhaps I am out of my depth with this as it talks about "compilers", "Ubuntu", "Devian" etc. none of which makes any sense to me.

Can you tell me if this program is intended for ordinary people with ordinary computers and if so, what do I need to do to make the program work? I am running Windows XP SP3 if that makes any difference.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated,

Charlie Simpson

Sounds like a browser setting issue.

When you click on that link, it's setup to run a PHP script (which is called download.php in this case) on the Musescore server. However, in your case, there may be a setting in the browser that says "open any .PHP file using "Picture IT! Photo 2002". So, my suggestion is to find the settings in your browser that associate an application with different files and get rid of any association with .PHP files.
