playback problem with short caesura

• May 6, 2023 - 00:14

I have added a few "short caesura" markings to points in my score. During playback, the visual progress marker pauses at the caesura marks. However, the audio playback does not. So, not only do I not hear the effect of the pause, the playback gets completely out of sync with itself. I am also hearing occasional spurious notes thrown in for good measure after the caesuras were added.

I am on

I can confirm that there is a problem with the playback. Having added some short caesuras to a sample score, I have heard all the problems which you describe. Sometimes the playback can sound chaotic. The added caesuras are in mm. 3, 6, 8 and 13.

But the sample score does not always reproduce the "out of sync" and "occasional spurious notes" reliably. This leads me to guess that the playback problem involves MuseScore 4's new read-ahead feature:
- either not consistently clearing out temporary look-ahead data
- or not applying the caesura duration consistently across all staves

Temporary glitches like this are known indeed; they generally fix themselves the next time the playback data is updated (and in particular, on save/reload).
