Cannot publish a score as an update of an existing score

• May 11, 2023 - 19:36

I had published a score (https://musescore.com/user/54471/scores/10341409) a couple of weeks ago, and now I want to update it. The original MU4 file got lost, but I still had a copy, so I tried to upload an updated version with audio (I can of course just change the score itself, which I actually already did, but it is the audio playback that I need to update). I went to File/Score properties... and changed the source to the above score. But when I try to upload, it creates a new version and afterwards, it has overwritten the source field with a new score URL.

I would very much like to update the original score, so that I would not loose comments, votes, likes, etc. on this score, but of course, when a new URL is created, all that would be lost.

Can you tell me what I should do?

Thanks

What you're describing should work - I've done this many times. Be double & triple sure you aren't doing something silly like hitting Cancel instead of OK after setting the Source field. If you continue to have trouble, chances are something is going wrong on the musescore.com side, so you may have to contact their support.
