Several of my scores are inexplicably hidden

• May 22, 2023 - 02:21

I was trying to find a particular older score of mine when I noticed that it wasn't showing up when searched for nor was it appearing under the artist name or song title. I then realized that this was the case for several of my scores:

The following scores I know are hidden and are only accessible through sets I have created.
- Death Odyssey: https://musescore.com/user/1214651/scores/10425091
- Flow: https://musescore.com/user/1214651/scores/10390135
- Guess the Song #5: https://musescore.com/user/1214651/scores/9858415

And then I know that one of my scores (Hot Damned) is completely inaccessible as it does not belong to any sets.

In fact, I have created a total of 34 scores but only 18 of which appear to be accessible (in my profile, it says I have published 34 scores but only 18 are shown when I attempt to browse my scores). But if I go to the "My Scores" menu, I am able to see all of my scores. I just can't search for the ones that are "misssing" nor can I access them through My Profile --> Sheet Music. Note that all of these scores are marked as public.

My theory for this at first was that any score that was merged with another artist was hidden (since I had previously filed requests to merge the artists "Heaven Pierce Her" and "Hakita" as well as the artists "Danny Baranowsky" and "Hot Damned - Danny Baranowsky" --- I think that was the title). But that doesn't explain why so many of the other arrangements are missing. Perhaps it's because they are the only scores for that song? Most of my Transistor arrangements are hidden because nobody else has done arrangements of them (e.g: Gateless, Impossible, etc.). But this fails to explain why my arrangement of Forecast is unaffected.

This is a severe issue with the website if I can upload scores but nobody can find them easily.

After doing some more research, I've found that all of the users I follow also have hidden scores:

  • benkauf https://musescore.com/user/335496 : Has 10 scores on their profile, only 7 of which are accessible. The ones that are missing are the three parts of the Mother 3 medley.

  • OblivionAXiS https://musescore.com/user/32724385 : Has 12 scores on their profile, only 7 of which are accessible. I know that one of these scores, "OneShot OST – Eliza Velasques, NightMargin, GIRakaCHEEZER (Part 2 - The Glen)" is visible on their profile but cannot be searched for, unlike their other scores.

  • Synamo https://musescore.com/user/17858566 : Has 8 scores on their profile, only 7 of which are accessible. I cannot confirm that the missing score isn't private or unlisted (but would it be counted in the original eight if it was?)

  • Xiloscient https://musescore.com/user/29523876 : Has 79 scores on their profile, only 20 of which are accessible. Again, I cannot confirm that this is because all of the remaining scores are private or unlisted. I do know that both Xiloscient's and my arrangements of "Supper Woods" from Chicory: A Colorful Tale are not searchable.

This last point begs the question: is this an issue with copyright that we have not been made aware of? If so, why are certain scores from an OST left unaffected and others are hidden (e.g: my arrangement of Forecast, the other two arrangements in OblivionAXiS's OneShot arrangements)
