Musescore Crash Didn't save

• Jun 1, 2023 - 06:11

I had a pep band tune I've been working on for about 5 hours today. I tried to add a tie to a slur and musescore crashed, but when I reopened the software, expecting the restore message, it never showed up. Musescore would normally crash but I would always see the message after. Now, it's nothing. I have no previous saves, and it supposedly saves every 2 minutes, but there is no access to it anywhere on my computer. I don't want to give up on about 5 straight hours of work. Anybody else have this issue/ a way to solve it?

The autosave every three minutes is for disaster recovery only, it is never meant to take the place of normal saving. You should always save your work, otherwise it is lost when you close the program. So definitely in the future always save your work regularly.

If a crash happens before you save, there is an autosave kept for a limited time - until the next score you create. So if you haven't created any more scores, you might be able to recover. Turn on display of hidden files on your computer if they aren't already. Then if you are on Windows, go to AppData/MuseScore/MuseScore4 and you may find a score there.
