Score loses dynamics after using mixer -MuseScore 4.2

I used the mixer is some of my scores before exporting them to .wav. I created a new score and had the mixer on because the default viola patch was 1/2 the volume of the regular strings.
I modified the score and added some new dynamic settings - in this case a de-crescendo from FF to mp. Nothing happened and the playback was still FF. If I remove the mixer playback is still the same.
I obviously need to have control of dynamics from the score regardless of the mixer. Need some help quickly as I am auditioning some of my music shortly.
