Automatically convert note values (ex. 8ths vs triplets) but keep notes

• Jun 23, 2023 - 17:37

I've looked at threads from past years where the answer was that it isn't possible, but I want to reiterate the question in case there's been an update on this.

I recently converted a PDF using the import tool, and it actually did a decent job (aside from its inability to detect chord notation), but there are some errors throughout. One is that half the time it doesn't recognize a group of triplets and converts them into a group of three 8th notes, creating measures with total duration longer than the time signature allows. The notes are correct, so I wish there were a way to select and convert them into triplets. I imagine this is tricky from a coding perspective, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is still not possible. But might it be in the future? Or has anyone developed a plug-in for this kind of thing?

It takes a little manual labor, but the import tool did a decent job, so I'm still satisfied with the transcription time I'm saving.

I've sometimes accidentally forgotten that a piece was in compound meter and tried to add a set of notes that were supposed to be a quadruplet. I just pasted the notes somewhere else for reference and then redid it. as far as I know there is not a way to paste the notes into a tuples area either. I think my solution might be your best option.
