Warped score playback sound.
Hi all,
I am a 23 year old professional trumpeter based in The Netherlands and I work a lot with musescore. Currently working on some arrangements, mainly (full) big band scores, and I've stumbled onto something really weird: To my ears, it sounds like the score playback is warped at times, like those old cassette tapes, of which the tape itself is warped/stretched in such an amount that it warps the sound. Another example would be old vinyl records that have been bent slightly, thus influencing the pitch. See the thing is that I have perfect pitch, so I can hear exactly without any reference if something is slighty sharp or flat.
So what am I on about?
Well, sometimes, in the score, when I play something back, the notes that are written out, don't correspond to what I hear, or vice versa. Often being offset by more than one semitone. I don't know if my ears are going mad or if it's something that is in the software or that my soundcard is fried (I use Ableton quite a lot for production).
I'm using an Acer Aspire 5, with a 10th gen intel CORE i5 processor with 8 GB of RAM and I'm running Musescore 4.0.2.
Regards,
Giancarlo Morbeck

And on the download page to see the recommended specs. Your computer is the minimum needed. With some adjustments, you should be fine. First, try leaving the mixer open. Different things work for different computers.
On a side note, None of my records where warped, or my cassette tapes stretched. A bigger problem was the inconsistent playback speeds between manufacturers. The same record might be a different pitch on different players.
